3 Signs That You Need to Replace Your Roof

Most if not all roofing systems are built to last a very long time. However, no matter how durable your roof is, they are not completely indestructible and will eventually need to be replaced. But how can you tell for certain when it is time to get a new roof? In today's article, roof and gutter installation pros, Colorado Roof Toppers shares four telltale signs that your roof is nearing the end of its service life.

1. Curling Shingles

The shingles on your roof can curl in either one of two ways: cupping and clawing. Cupping occurs when the edges of your shingles turn upward. Clawing, on the other hand, is when the edges remain flat and the middle starts to come up. If you notice any kind of curling on the majority of your shingles, then it's probably time to start shopping around for a new roof.

2. Balding Shingles

Your asphalt shingles are covered with a layer of granules to help them withstand the elements. Over time, your shingles will shed this protective layer due to natural weathering. Hail damage can also cause this.  When this happens, your roof's overall energy efficiency will plummet and will cause higher utility bills. If your shingles start to go bald, then it's time to give your residential roofing contractor a call.

3. Sagging

A drooping or sagging roof is a sure sign that your roof needs to be replaced immediately. Sagging occurs when the structural components of your roof begin to fail, usually due to rot. If left alone, your roof can eventually cave in and cause serious damage to the rest of your home.
